AKA “Bible Thumpers Corner”

A page to wrestle with scriptural or doctrine issues that are being thrown about these days.

This post was suggested by Requried Voluntary Compliance as a thread should go beyond a simple prayer page where we can discuss our struggles or interpretations of scripture or doctrine.

U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom names 13 nations

Panel recommends administration designate 13 as “countries of particular concern”

Designation gives secretary of state policy options to address serious violations
    updated 11:55 a.m. EDT, Fri May 1, 2009Next Article in U.S. »

WASHINGTON (CNN) — A U.S. government panel listed 13 countries Friday as “egregious” violators of religious freedom.

Homeless Pakistani Christians protest last month in Islamabad for protection of Christian minorities.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom’s annual report named Myanmar, North Korea, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, China, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

It recommended that the Obama administration designate them as “countries of particular concern” or CPC.

The group has issued a watch list that includes Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Egypt, Indonesia, Laos, Russia, Somalia, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Venezuela, countries that don’t rise to the level of a CPC but need to be monitored.

“Unfolding events in Pakistan make clear the relevance of this theme to the 2009 Annual Report. At the time of writing, emboldened Taliban-associated extremists had advanced to within 60 miles of the Pakistani capital of Islamabad,” the report said.

“In the areas they already control, these groups are imposing draconian restrictions on human rights and religious freedom and engaging in brutal acts against individuals, particularly women and local police, who refused to accede to their repressive policies.”

The federal commission is bipartisan, and its commissioners are appointed by the president and members of Congress.

A CPC designation gives Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “a range of specific policy options to address serious violations of religious freedom.”

It requires the secretary “to enter into direct consultations with a government to find ways to bring about improvements in the respect for religious freedom.”

The report covers the period May 2008 through April. The commission was created by the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998.

“While sanctions are a possible policy option, the secretary may decide to develop a binding agreement with the CPC government on specific actions that it will take to end the violations that gave rise to the designation or take a commensurate action,” the commission said. “The secretary may determine that pre-existing sanctions are adequate or waive the requirement of taking action in furtherance of the Act.”

For those buy-bull bangers who insist that god orders all things that happen, I want you to think about something. President Bush claimed that God told him to invade Iraq. You all followed right along, cheering, screaming with joy at each fallen Iraqi body shown on the nightly news. Well, where was your God then? Seen any hurricanes strike Iraq? Or Iran? No? Or floods, like those hitting the Midwest and the US Northeast the last two years? Seen any equivalent disasters hitting Iran or Iraq?

Or tornadoes? The US has been hit with record-level tornadoes in 2007 and 2008. See any significant number of tornadoes over Iraq? Over Iran? No?

In 2009 record cold hit the North American continent … in MAY! Oklahoma has lost 90% of its wheat crop. Bread will become a costly luxury, especially as the economy continues to crumble.

How about wildfires? Humboldt County is still charred. There is a black scar running across Southern California from Los Angeles to San Diego from last year’s fires.

Ever see wildfires like that in the nations Bush tells you God wants destroyed? No? Major crop loss from freak cold snaps?

Now comes Hurricanes Gustav, Hanna, and Ike.

    Hmmmmm.

Better think this one through. Bush coveted the oil wealth of Iraq. In order to get that wealth Bush bore false witness to We The People, the Congress, and the world. Bush then stole that wealth, and killed a lot of people in the process. And by claiming that God told him to do all that Bush took the Lord’s name in vain, I think. So, he’s batting 500 in terms of breaking the Ten Commandments, … and all who support him are accessories to the crime.

The United States stands exposed of torturing innocent people to coerce false confessions to justify the invasion of Iraq. Innocent people were tortured to death.

    Children were tortured.

    Children.

And what is the result? Did your God deliver a swift and easy victory to George Bush by flinging The Wrath Of God ™ onto the infidel?

No, the Wrath Of God ™ is hitting the nation that invaded Iraq based on that false witness thing I mentioned before. Hurricane Katrina wrecked our largest seaport, through which America’s war machine exports much of its cargoes of death around the globe. Katrina also savaged the oil infrastructure, and oil is the lifeblood of conventional warfare. The midwestern floods are cutting rail lines into the west, and have destroyed an entire corn crop, exacerbating an already critical food shortage. “Famine” is on the Wrath Of God ™ menu, if I recall correctly. Now we cower in a record cold winter, yet despite the heavy snow pack in the mountains, drought is predicted for the western United States this year. “Drought” is on the Wrath Of God ™ menu as well.

And as Obama picks up the sword of war from Bush, now we are told we have a plaque stalking those nations that aligned to invade Iraq on false pretenses. And little trace of thay plaque in the lands Bush insisted God wanted destroyed.

The government’s defenders are desperately tried to explain away hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, famine, freezing, drought, and plagueas God’s punishment against the gays or the blacks, but as Hurricanes Katrina and Rita bore down on those Texas refineries, the message, if there really is one, is clear. The hurricanes are not pointed at gays. The storms are aimed at the United States’ capacity to fuel its war machine. The disasters are aimed at the food that feeds the soldiers. Indeed the plaque seems aimed at all those who supported this war based on false pretenses.

Now for myself, I’m a non-believer, so I see Katrina and Rita and the storms creating the midwest/northeastern flooding and the tornadoes and the wildfires and the freezing and the drought and the plaque as the result of natural events meeting inadequate preparations, emphasis on “inadequate”. What should have been manageable disasters were turned into catastrophes because money and materials needed to prevent flood damage, control dead brush that feeds wildfires, and purchase needed equipment for disaster relief was diverted to Bush’s wars, which the Senate Intelligence Committee has confirmed were the result of being “misled” (politician-speak for “lied to”). And the National Guard, who are supposed to be standing by in the states to deal with natural disasters are also off in the Middle East fighting Bush’s wars as well.

But for those of you who buy into the God gambit, those of you who believe that God ordaineth every bird that flies and every leaf that falls, your own beliefs have to be telling you that something is very much out of whack. All the biblical signs of an angry God are directed at the United States and its allies.

Bush lied when he said God was directing his actions, and those costumed child molesters holding those collection plates who cheered Bush along, well, they were lying too. They have broken 5 of the 10 commandments. And they have tricked you into breaking them as well. Because you can no longer pretend you don’t know something is very wrong, and you can no longer pretend you don’t know that Iraq (and soon to be Iran) is an unholy war. The Wrath Of God ™ is aimed at the heartland of the USA, and the throttle is set to full-tilt boogie!

Then there is Israel’s Operation CAST LEAD in which Israel broke the cease fire with Hamas and launched an attack into Gaza, killing mostly civilians, using inappropriate weapons such as white phosphorus. The United States paid for the weapons. Indeed as Israel; began to run out, the US Government sent even more. The canisters of white phosphorus that fell on a school full of children bore marking proving they were made in the United States.

And, funny thing, but recent genetic studies prove that the present-day Palestinians are direct descendants of the Biblical Hebrews, including presumably a certain carpenter turned Rabbi. So all that made-in-the-US white phosphorus has been falling on some of Jesus kinfolk. Think maybe the boss’s son holds a grudge?

It is a compelling set of facts, isn’t it? Even for a non-believer like me! If I didn’t know better I would conclude that the big guy is really pissed off at the US and its allies.

  9. found a wikipedia article on the 616/666 controversy and it explains
what I heard twenty years ago pretty well and
there is now more proof in document fragments.
“The Beast” was Nero, nrn qsr who destroyed the
temple. The number of his name was either 616 or 666 in greek or hebrew.

  10. that said (the wikipedia article) I do not advocate implant chips and all this “mark of the beast” prison planet tracking grid junk, just because the 666 of the bible might have been fulfilled in 70AD, There are plenty of fraudsters and hucksters and devil worship wannabes out there
some of which have been exposed by the likes of John Anderson, and others in occult groups that have come forward with proof it is a sham and magic trick show. Who needs a devil anyway when we might be our own worst enemy, my reading says death and haidies and the devil were defeated, conquered by the reserection. The new covenant has no end, Yeshuah is in his Kingdom, following him becomes the only option for those that care enough to study.

  11. hmmmmmmmm…

“when the power of the holy people has finally been broken, all these things will be completed” (Dan. 12:7). When Daniel prophesied, the “holy people” were the Jews. When Jesus walked the earth and every New Testament writer wrote, they were still the Jews. Their “power” was the greatest power any group could ever possibly have on planet Earth?an exclusive relationship with Jehovah God as manifested by the magnificent Temple complex. This power and its institutions were “finally broken” in the A.D. 70 destruction of Jerusalem and the desolation of the Old Covenant, Judaic system-exactly as and precisely when Daniel prophesied, Jesus said, and every New Testament writer expected.
Thus, Daniel’s two time prophecies and their uninterrupted time parameters are of paramount importance in cutting through any confusion or possible misunderstanding of New Testament time statements, its normally used words, and imminency expectations. Their fulfillment perfectly harmonizes with all other end-time scriptures when left in a 1st-century time context. This end was and is the only end the Bible ever and consistently proclaims. That end was covenantal, and not cosmic.
This past-fulfilled, “time-of-the-end” paradigm is the one to which yours truly and many other preterist adherents subscribe (yet we differ on several other issues). It provides the hermeneutical discipline within which we seek to understand the nature of fulfillment for all end-time Bible prophecies, events, and redemptive realities. In our various but not totally in agreement writings, we have affirmed and documented how back then “in these last days” (Heb 1:2) everything arrived right on time-no gaps, no interruptions, and no delays. Then, at the climax of this divinely determined time period, on the “last day” (singular) of “these last days” (plural), the big three, concurrent, eschatological events took place:

    · The coming again of Christ on the clouds in judgment (his parousia)

    · The day of judgment

    · The resurrection of the dead
Hermeneutically, Christ Himself had promised that his literal, personal, and bodily parousia would occur within the lifetime of his contemporaries?the “this generation” to whom He spoke (Matt 24:3, 27, 34). Likewise, the Apostle Paul tied the other two events into this coming (1 Cor. 15:23; 1 Thess. 4:15; 2 Tim. 4:1). Even the 1st-century scoffers correctly associated the destruction of Jerusalem with this coming of Christ—his parousia (2 Pet. 3:3-4; Jude 17-19)?something most Christians have failed to do. It all transpired within forty years (one biblical generation – Heb. 3:17-18) from the time Jesus uttered his Olivet Discourse prophecy and died on the cross. It also happened precisely as and when every New Testament writer expected, as they were guided “into all truth” and told “what is yet to come” (John 16:13).

Zionism has hijacked Judaism and is currently the Jews’, and other people’s, greatest enemy.
(Why is the Truth so dangerous?)
Today Israel is the biggest threat to a world in peace. Its leaders blatantly threaten adjacent capital cities with nuclear warfare if the Jewish state is put at risk of being replaced by a democratic state, with equal rights for all who live, or have lived, on the land between the Mediterranean and the River Jordan. What they themselves call the “Holocaust” of Israel.

”The Holocaust Religion” and all its taboos are justifying Israel’s policies and the Zionist power elite’s neo-colonial war. This is why facts that reveal the truth about this religion are dangerous.

Former Department of Homeland Security Head Michael Chertoff twice described dis-believing in the official 9/11 story as akin to holocaust denial as he was bombarded with 9/11 ‘inside job’ questions from multiple CSpan viewers.

O.K. then I will play along, let us expose also the problems with the 6million doctrine
    of the holocaust:

HOW many know that the plaque at Auschwitz was changed from
4 MILLION to 1.1million and during the 1990s scholarship has that number down below 1million that died their of ALL ethnicity and MANY people were starved or killed AFTER the allies “liberated” those in the work/labor/prison camps.

Stories about the Lamp shades made from human skin (assumed to have been “jews”) have been debunked along with the stories about soap made from human fat, were lies and exaggerations. IF being accurate about history makes one a holocaust denier SO BE IT.

IF having questions about MAJOR events of history makes one a kook, crazy, nutjob, or even the dreaded “anti-semetic” SOOO BE IT !!!

THIS IS A VERY CONTROVERSIAL POST.
IF IT OFFENDS, THEN MAYBE IT SHOULD OFFEND THE OFFENDED.

    Revelation 11:15 (King James Version)
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

This became in early America the basis for the Foundation of a free nation:
    “No King but King Jesus”.

But “the devil is always in the details” don’t ya know…

From a certain point of view, and perhaps it will offend, but from a certain point of view
it can be argued that Christianity has been undermined in a BIG way!

Now when you hear the name Elvis, what comes to mind?
    The King? Maybe…

Let me break this down simply as possible:
I begin with the name, Elvis.

Name can be broken down into Elv is (or Elves Is),
So now we have repeatedly heard (subconsciously) Elvis, The King (Elves Is The King).
And it would appear that this theory is going nowhere until I point out
those little blue elves, The Smurfs.

The Entertainment Industry has been secretly degrading our values and morals for many years and probably will continue to do so for many years to come.

    Now that many of you are mad and/or curious about what I’m driving at;
    Follow this link: http://members.fortunecity.com/rowansterling/smurf.html

The guy says his article about Druid Smurf was a parody, but I believe that was to defend himself from all the legal trouble that the Entertainment Industry was causing him.

No one going to take up for Elvis?
Can I copy and link to that last post?

  26. nighthawk says:

Copy & Paste it or rewrite it –BUT– let me add a little more information here.

There is a definite link between Elvis and The Smurfs.
A good example would be this NewsWeek article featuring a picture of Elvis Smurf.
(Better save it before it disappears…Eh?)

Do you think that the artist behind Elvis Smurf may been under the subconscious suggestions?

Elvis the king can (subconsciously) translate into: Elf is the king (or) Elves is the king.
Be sure to give some background on or link to the Druid Smurf site too.

They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.” . . .

On the surface it might seem that Jeremiah is describing Christmas trees
this article disagrees that it could be:

WE, THE PEOPLE OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY SPOKE! and were heard! We now have a CHRISTMAS TREE! I personally sent 3 emails and received replies to all 3. Two were mass response mailings that I got back and one was a personal one. Glad to see at least SOMEONE listened.

  36. CC says:

    YES!!!

  37. So what of bowing down to angel graven figures on top of Xmass trees, no problems with that?
At least one angel/messenger in the bible said “SEE THOU DO IT NOT” when a deciple bowed before him, saying I am a fellow servant, some angels that recieve worship should be suspect if you ask me as even lucifer/satan can appear as a angel of light. These concepts are all in the new testament and under the refrain on even the appearance of evil it seems refrain from bowing to a addorned “holliday tree” or winter solstice tree or “christ-mass” tree is in order.

Now consider too that a lot of scholars suggest HE was born in the fall when you would tax a agrarian culture AFTER harvests when they would have stuff to tax, around the feast of tabernacles or Yom Kippur is often cited and it would be at least poetic if not symbolic for Yeshuah to be born on the day of attonement, nnot so much when the return of the son pagan festivals of Rome are / were celebrated on the 3rd/4th day after winter solstice.

  38. Kat says:

Do you think that putting an angel on top of a Christmas tree and bending down to get the presents under is considered ‘bowing to a graven image’ a bit of a stretch? I mean when I bend down to put air in my tires I’m not worshipping my car.

  39. nighthawk says:

I can see how bending over to receive gifts from under a decorated tree
can be in conflict with the First Commandment.
Even without graven images/likeness’ of angels on the tree.

I’d just about bet that Tech or RVC are the only others on this site who
even understand why there is a sunday on the calender instead of Son-day.

It is the same trickery that Moses warned us about.
So yes it is bowing whether you realize it or not.

I didn’t read anywhere that bending over to put air in your tire
could have even been conceived as a part of RVC’s comment.

    If you’d like, and have several hours to listen;
I can post a link to a series by William Milton Cooper that might just
open your eyes and allow you to see the trickery/witchcraft going on.

    Or you can ignore it.
It is your soul, and it is your choice.

  40. nighthawk says:

There is also a real good episode of Star Trek that inadvertently/subtlety
touches on the subject where the crew of the Enterprise is confused
about the religion of some folks on another planet –until– the end of the show.

But; that show works two levers, actually a reverse psyop from the entertainment
industry–which could serve to further confuse, but a few will get my point…
    Very, very, few.

  41. Speaking of trickery look up the “False Flag” article on wikipedia

you might appriaciate the “those who say they are Jews but are not” warning from the new testament a little more and begin to wonder how long and what had been affected by those with the motto
“through deception ye shall do war …

What if Everyone just kept their Mouth’s Shut?
There are things going on in this world that are reprehensible to the degree that one hardly knows what to say. One of these things is the recent admission that a certain country has been harvesting organs from those upon whom they are practicing irrefutable genocide. It’s being said that we now have indication as to why certain obvious innocents were targeted at seeming random. It’s being said they were targeted because their appearance matched an organ need in the oppressor community. If you go to most of the alternative newsgathering sites over the last several days you will see numerous articles on what’s been happening in the organ harvesting industry of the unwilling.

  43. “refrain from even the appearance of evil”…?
Do you think that putting an angel on top of a Christmas tree and bending down to get the presents under is considered ‘bowing to a graven image’ a bit of a stretch? I mean when I bend down to put air in my tires I’m not worshipping my car.

  44. Technoman says:

I re-read this and just so the “Jimmy” guy and his possible fans know, a basis for the
American Revolutionary cry “no King but King Jesus” was concepts like this from the bible:
    Revelation 11:15 (King James Version)
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

NOW, if you are not a Preterist (Covenant Eschatology) how can you be a patriot?
Since if the Revelation of John is not fulfilled and there is yet a rapture/tribulation then
this verse above has not been fulfilled and that means the temptation in the wilderness
is still in effect (that ’satan’ has control of the kings of the earth or it was not a real temptation he could offer to “Yeshuah”.) A real conundrum eh?

  45. Technoman says:

I heard something on 88.5 over the July 4th weekend I had forgotten about, that ism one of the two signers of the Bill of Rights, was a Lutheran preacher who lost his church to the Redcoats, AFTER he had sent a letter to his brother who was also a preacher Chastising him for joining with the militia or Washington’s army. Frederick Augustus Conrad Muhlenberg
He served as a delegate to the First and to the three succeeding United States Congresses (March 4, 1789–March 4, 1797). Muhlenberg was the also the first Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, including for the First Congress (1789–1791) and Third Congress. Affirming the rich spiritual and religious history of our Nation’s founding and subsequent history and expressing support for designation of the first week in May as `America’s Spiritual Heritage Week’ for the appreciation of and education on America’s history of religious faith.

    RESOLUTION

Affirming the rich spiritual and religious history of our Nation’s founding and subsequent history and expressing support for designation of the first week in May as `America’s Spiritual Heritage Week’ for the appreciation of and education on America’s history of religious faith.

    Whereas religious faith was not only important in official American life during the periods of discovery, exploration, colonization, and growth but has also been acknowledged and incorporated into all 3 branches of the Federal Government from their very beginning;

    Whereas the Supreme Court of the United States affirmed this self-evident fact in a unanimous ruling declaring `This is a religious people . . . From the discovery of this continent to the present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation’;

    Whereas political scientists have documented that the most frequently cited source in the political period known as The Founding Era was the Bible;

A RESOLUTION is an attempt at RESOLVING a dispute between 2 or more of the legislative branches.
Did this RESOLUTION pass? or is it still up in the air?

I followed the link and the RESOLUTION ends as:

    “Now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the United States House of Representatives–

    (1) affirms the rich spiritual and diverse religious history of our Nation’s founding and subsequent history, including up to the current day;

    (2) recognizes that the religious foundations of faith on which America was built are critical underpinnings of our Nation’s most valuable institutions and form the inseparable foundation for America’s representative processes, legal systems, and societal structures;

    (3) rejects, in the strongest possible terms, any effort to remove, obscure, or purposely omit such history from our Nation’s public buildings and educational resources; and

    (4) expresses support for designation of a `America’s Spiritual Heritage Week’ every year for the appreciation of and education on America’s history of religious faith.”

  48. nighthawk says:

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

This could be somewhat confusing without the rest of the book:

    “…our Lord, and his Christ…”

Does mean our Lord as in [GOD] or as in general our Lord as in leader, king, president, etc…?

  49. nighthawk says:

    Continuing the discussion…
16 And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God,
17 saying,“We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.
