TUES: Currently 6:02p.m. MPD have been talking back and forth for some time now about observing some people loading their car up with items, one said to contact him ASAP, another said he was keeping his eye on them and they were leaving and the person was following them and they had gotten on the interstate and they were contacting KSP

WED: Male that was arrested by KSP for DUI aggravated, just after midnight was jailer candidate, Tim Bryant.

WED: 3:08a.m. MPD called to downtown BP to ‘contraband’ found in the parking lot.  The one MPD officer, which I’m beginning to ready like his style of talkin’, said, ‘Morehead note on the log I’m in possession of a great big o’ bag of marijuana’.  How does a ‘great big o’ bag of marijuana’, just end up in the parking lot of a busy business?  Kinda be funny if someone called the cops and asked if anyone had found his dope.

WED: Around 9:40p.m. 10-45 in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, one involving a new 2010 truck…ouch.

WED: 9:16p.m. Alarm at Fast-Lane Tobacco on Tom’s Drive….Could be there are closing for the day?—Man they are having a time with that alarm.  THURS: Just went off again around 4:35a.m.  At least 3 times that I have been awake to hear.

THURS: 5:38a.m. EMS responding to DeHart’s Trailer Park on McBrayer Road to a 19 y/o male that awoke with severe lower right side pain.  — I’m not a doc, but I’d say run that CBC stat and look at the WBC’s,  get an ultrasound and prep him for an appendectomy.

FRI: About 9:15a.m. EMS responding to a 21 y/o female 17 weeks pregnant, (4 months + 1 week), hemorrhaging.  You think that might be a signal 9 call but wasn’t toned out as such.  I was taught ANY type of hemorrhaging was a signal 9 aka STAT….except maybe those that talk too much and have hemorrhaging of the tongue…self included in that one.

FRI: 9:42a.m. EMS responding to male, low blood pressure, weak, nurse on scene.

Seriously? Yikes~  UK finally got a doc available but still no bed.

SAT: Currently 7:15p.m. Fire Department, MSU-Police, etc., back on scene again to the MSU storage place on Old Cranston.  Sprinklers went off again, water flowing again, no one with a key again, taking down the door again!  Geez.  You would THINK, that MSU-police would have a key to these remote off-site buildings.  300 unit made multiple calls to multiple people and no one had a key.  I think MSU should pay the fire department, etc, back for gas, time, etc.  Yeah, like that is going to happen.—7:32p.m. Command terminated and control turned back over to MSU police.  It sound like they had control to begin with.

SAT: 7:30p.m. Male lodged in the pokey for drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a minor, charges for 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree something?

SAT: 9:30p.m. Domestic in progress on Ivory.

SAT:9:41p.m.  EMS responding to a Life Line alert from a 75 y/o female on Whittaker Street.  Alarm was activated but they are getting no response from inside the home.—10:11p.m. MPD asked to respond to Whittaker St.  EMS can not make contact with person.   One thing that has happened several times before is that the person will leave with someone and forget they have the device on and when it gets too far from it’s base, the alarm will be activated.—UPDATE: Her son showed up and got in and she didn’t want to go to the hospital.  He said he would stay with her and get her to the doctor in the next couple of days.

SUN: 5:54a.m. An off duty, Fish and Wildlife Officer witnessed a vehicle back into another vehicle in the driveway of a residence on Frontier Drive and called in to dispatch that they felt the driver was drunk.  He was following it and it wrecked in front of NAPA Auto Parts.  At 6:15a.m. A 100 unit, aka, MPD told dispatch that the Fish and Wildlife Officer was going to be bring the person in. ….. so he went from off duty to arresting someone in a matter of minutes?? not that the guy didn’t need to be arrested.  Oh well.

  1. puzzled says:

Maybe i was wrong about the current and past scanner scoops being a useful tool to
show the sudden increase in sheriff patrols as the general election draws near.
All i am seeing is the word “cops” which could mean anybody except for KSP whom
seem to get distinguished acknowledgment for one reason or another.

Would somebody please note how the sheriff is increasing patrols as the general
    election draws close?

M.P.D. or S.O. would have been so nice to see here instead of just “cops”,
but perhaps some can confirm that I am not imagining that the current
sheriff has been keeping an active deputy on duty 24/7 over the last
couple of days (as the election draws nearer).

Please help him with his publicity stunt of increased visibility in hopes that
a few people might realize that he did the exact same thing 4 years ago.
Let’s hope that a few people may just realize that increased sheriff patrols
will disappear after the general election is over.

Please read the long version in a prior scanner scoop.
The long version will explain it all

  2. Kat says:

99% of the time you hear ‘cop’ on here it is MPD or an S.O. Unit. KSP is rarely around. I will make that clear in further postings.

  3. puzzled says:

    Thanks Kat,
I didn’t hear any morning shift deputies working between 5:oo am and 1:oo pm today.
It would be my guess that two deputies will be working tonight through early morning.
Possibly 1 deputy working Sunday evening through early Monday morning hours,
maybe none, crime never happens on Sunday you know :) lol

Would anyone else agree it’s useless for the dispatcher to yell
“Morehead Dispatch to any available S.O. unit…” multiple times?

Wouldn’t “Any unit available for county-wide calls…” be more fitting?

Since the M.P.D. & MSU-P.D. now have discretionary county-wide jurisdiction,
why not allow (force) the deputies to compete with them for call response?

  4. Kat says:

Honestly the only one that responds faster than lightening is S4. Other than that???? I’m slower than a snail but I know I could beat a bunch of them to various locations.

  5. Overnight says:

KSP burning up the county yesterday evening, late night, early am hours.
Sheriff activity mostly mute but there (cellphone). Heard S7 around 5:oo pm,
heard S5 around 12:oo am. Don’t recall hearing anything from S4, so maybe
he’s *tonights midnight loner (if any)?

*subject to change as officials don’t like it when you climb into their minds.

Some will find it hard to pinch pennies AND put on a good show.
I have more but will save it for later (if and when necessary).

I guess that i am part of the crowd who can take care of themselves
and could really care less about sheriff patrols, but when the lack
of active scheduled deputies impede medical assistance, then there
is a cause that everyone should be concerned about. Right?
