Site Ideas
By nighthawk • Nov 15th, 2008 • Category: Site StuffDo you have any ideas that might improve the quality of this site?
Are you having any issues with the site not functioning properly?
Here is an article for everybody to discuss site specific issues.
For example:
I believe that we could use a few more authors –and– that we already have a few members who have great writing skills, but lack the tools to actually create new content (posts).
I had suggested that everyone be made an author by default, and that new posts be held in a moderation cue for an editor or administrator to review and make the final decision of whether or not to publish the post.
Mind you, the reasoning behind reviewing the posts prior to publication wouldn’t be about censorship, but more about preventing spam and abuse.
But in any event, I don’t think the software can be modified to hold posts in moderation cue, and with making anyone an editor (myself included) comes the risk of certain posts being moderated or edited unfairly, and the risk of irrational censorship, the type of censorship that is done without good reason or judgment, based solely upon opinion, disagreement or belief, and generally causes online havoc.
So if anyone is interested in becoming an author here, please contact Dave and let him know.
He’s an easy going guy who isn’t going to bite your head off for letting him know that you’d
like to become an author here at RowanReview.com or anything.
So if you’d like to become an author here, please contact Dave.
His contact information can be found here about 1/2 way down the post in bold lettering along with an invitation to new authors.
We have actually needed some new authors for several months now (in my opinion) and I’d say that some fresh content would certainly be welcomed by everyone.
But in any event, whether you are interested in becoming an author or just have some ideas for site improvements, please take this opportunity to add your ideas to this thread.

the site does not end with the recent comment box, but that is apparently about as far as most people read. if you look around on the front page, there is a lot more things to read and write about. of course this has been observed by TechKnomen and Required Voluntary Compliance too, so this isn’t so much my observation or idea. maybe bumping this up into the recent comments will bring a few new ideas from others.

Thanks for that, it is what I have been suggesting that
most folks tend to just look at the most recent comments
without scanning the front page.
Should the Recent comments be put at the bottom
or under some of the other index boxes to cut
down on the over emphasis of just what is
in that box? It could also be made longer to
allow for more- more recent comments so
that someone like me that might go days without
visiting and has something to say about recent topics
or rebut previous rebuttals, in doing that I can
along with another poster banter back and forth
in a few minutes and fill up the recent comments box
knocking out without malace posts made just a few
hours prior.

The “Browse Categories” box could go up
as well as the “Contributors” and
the “Site Stuff” it will be a xtml coding task,
might be hard to do but it can be done,
then the recent comments box could be
longer maybe? At least if Browse categories
and Site Stuff was up top it would be more
noticeable by 1st timere or occasional visitors.

Still trying to rub everybody’s faces in their sh*t:
Rothschild group staff have received record bonuses, it has emerged after the bank reported a 31 per cent improvement in profits before tax to €459 million.
Record results from both its advisory and private banking operations enabled the bank to pay the bonuses to its 2,700 people in June.

“GET REAL” I know who you are, you posted way back when
using a special cartoon font and you have been just a reader
ever since, one of several I suspect, that just shows up to
read and run. Chime in more to add some life to this rundown
page eh?
