KAT’S SCANNER SCOOP WED OCT 22ND
By Kat • Oct 22nd, 2008 • Category: Scanner Scoop8:12a.m. EMS toned out to a 40 y/o male diabetic, unresponsive at Interstate Mobile Home Park/North Park Mobile Home Park. Patient was in ER yesterday for hypoglycemia, (LOW blood sugar).
9:44a.m. EMS responding to a male patient in Pleasant Valley, possible heart attack.
Around 10:11a.m. as EMS was pulling into St. Claire, they reported that there was a possible 10-45 near the entrance to the hospital.
2:19p.m. Fire departments have been super busy with a large fire in Morgan County/West Liberty. Many departments responded to what I was told was a mulch fire? I thought originally it was something else. Anyway, they also have a dump truck accident 4 miles into Morgan County and they need the ‘Jaws of Life’, and don’t have one on scene at this time, driver of truck is entrapped and going into convulsions. PHI medi-chopper has been notified and is lifting off.
I called Channel 18 and they said they were working a Breaking Big Story of gunmen on the campus of Western University and the campus was under lockdown, etc., and they were focusing most of their ‘manpower’ there.
EMS went to Beacon Hill, this is behind Major Brands, I think they went to the VA clinic, not sure, to a male patient. Did not hear the chief complaint.
11:35a.m. 900 block of east main, domestic in progress…..what else is new.
11:36a.m. EMS en route to Clear Fork road, to an 86 y/o male that had testing done yesterday and his son is calling as patient is delirious and having a hard time controlling him.
11:58a.m. Lyons ave, female needs transport, requesting no lights or sirens upon approach.
Nut busted for marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
GEEZ! I almost feel like I have a newborn all of a sudden since I got the scanner to pick-up again! Ok, here we go…….
Currently, as of 11:28p.m. cops are still looking for a driver that hit the rear of a car near the East End Car Wash and caused a 10-46 around 9:47p.m. Then he hit another car. They were looking for a silver truck that they said couldn’t have gotten far without headlights and the radiator was busted and leaking all over. After a big search around 10:40p.m. our local ‘DOG the Bounty Hunter’ aka S4, located the truck and it had maroon paint on it, the color of one of the vehicles involved. He said he was searching several adjacent building trying to flush him out. Geez wouldn’t a real K-9 come in handy right about now.
Earlier police were ask to respond to the ER at St. Claire for a beligorant person….man, those doctors are grumpy sometimes! Just kidding, I’m sure it was a patient or someone’s relative.
Just heard cops on Jackson Drive for something at 11:32p.m. Something about a dog growling at someone? UTL, unable to locate.
8:41p.m. A call came in from the tobacco warehouse about several police cars blocking a person’s drive-way?
9:02p.m. A call came in from Wal-mart about a male so drunk that he can’t walk. Employee’s called 911 and followed him out to a black SUV in row 7 and are holding him there until cops arrive.

ENTRAPMENT accident caught several folks off guard today I guess,
and even when it took several minutes for 3 squad members to
respond, those on the scene got the car wreck victim out
before MFD or Rescue squad could get there.
Is a Jaws of Life too heavy for the helecopter to carry?
I know there are small ones/lightweight models
I guess it would be rare to get to the scene with the
chopper and have a rural VFD that had someone that
was trained to use one but did not have one?
It was a nail-biter today as they called for tankers and such
it left me wondering if the victim was in danger of burning up
or bleeding out before extraction could be done. but I found
out later that was a mulch fire.
I think the Rescue Squad response time has been hurt by
not being toned out on a regular basis, many of them may
have become lax or who knows, quit charging their batteries
every night or whatever and got out of their habits as the
are not toned out as much from what I hear even for stuff
that avoids the city being called out of town?
Anyway they did get toned out before the MFD on that
call and that was a good judgment call by the MFDChief.
(not dispatch ) Rescue did still beat MFD
from what I heard, with 2 units (5 responders)

Hey around noon where was the “nut busted with” maryjane?
There were two city pd screaming up the bypass past theNAPA
I am told noon-ish and no-one knows where or what that was
about? They were doing over 65 by my sources estimate so
it was not likely near the east end car wash neighborhood.
Juz wundering cus I was asked.and did not get my scanner
reprogramed until 2pm or so to hear that Morgan Co. stuff;
the power was off (again) and my scanner lost all it’s memory(again)
