OK folks…here I am

I think i’ve deleted all of the comments that needed to be deleted.  Kat definitely did a no-no by posting IP addresses, but I’m certain it was not done maliciously.  As for email addresses, if you plug one in when you leave a comment, all anyone need do is to click on your “handle”, or the name you used to post the comment, and they can see whatever email address you gave, so that much, at least, is public knowledge.  You don’t have to give a real address, however.  It is only there for those who don’t mind letting other folks get in touch with them.

As for deleting anything, I can promise I’ve not been censoring anything.  Hell, I haven’t even been to the site in a long while.  This one is mostly dhunley’s baby, and I know he’s been awfully busy lately.  I’ve been trying to build up my own little baby, the MorganMinute, since that’s my home county and original creation.  That doesn’t mean I don’t care about what is going on over here, though.  I hate that there is such a sour mood that permeates this site.

It is one thing to offer up some negative comments, but aren’t all of you folks supposed to be living in this community together?  This site offers you all a place to gather and actually try to accomplish something, not just bicker back and forth at each other.  Air your differences, please…that is also why the site exists…but why can’t everyone find a way to also talk about things they can agree on?

I’m as guilty as anyone about posting items that are really to “big” for a site like this, and for that I apologize.  This site doesn’t need to be a place to go around in circles about abortion, global warming, evolution and whatever other GIANT issues exist for us all to deal with.  They are certainly fun issues to debate and argue about, but what about all of the local issues that are around us every day?  There is certainly no shortage of those.

This town has MORE than its fair share of things to deal with…traffic, a slumping downtown, the housing market…just to name a few.  THOSE are things that I’m sure you ALL have opinions about and might actually be able to generate a meaningful and fruitful discussion about.  I know the government is listening to everything we talk about these days, and our food sources aren’t safe, and UFO’s are probably being stored in an underground parking garage in Washington…I’m as big a conspiracy theorist as the next guy…but it would definitely be refreshing to see a little more variety in the postings.

All I can do is moderate what makes it here.  I can’t tell you what to post…and I don’t WANT to.  I just want this site to be a place where people can come and discuss items that concern them, or talk about things that make them happy, or share a good holiday recipe, or tell us all about a good deed a local citizen did…all without feeling that they will be immediately berated or insulted or challenged to a battle of wits that would require 3 trips to the library to research.

So…who knows where this will lead.  Maybe this concept isn’t a good one, or maybe I haven’t lead the charge effectively…but a lot of it is in YOUR hands…how will you handle it?

A recipe tip, to make just about any cookie stay chewy add a couple table spoons of molasses, I figger out that one by being a parinoid lable reader and noticed the common ingrediant to alot of soft cookies and it worked for me as long as I dont over brown them. I can sum up most of my postings by saying, none are more hopelessly enslaved than those that falsely beleive they are free. We can discuss everthing but the elephant in the room but if you cant actually OWN anything, you really have nothing to lose, “stakeholder”s; Depressed real estate market geeezzz, no alodial title means defective warrent deeds.

Debbie, I ask you to please remove the More Than Mulch Comment. I cant believe that you would say such things about me when I was the one who brought you food on Christmas Eve and many other times that my mother made for you. The owners of MTM were not involved today, I was. I am an employee and have nothing to do with management. I was only doing my job and I will fight the ticket in court and that doesnt need to be public knowledge. If you need to write negative things about the owners you should call me first and discuss what your concerns are. I am sorry that I had to be stopped today for trying to get the roads clear and the parking lots of every bank in town, both post offices and many private drives. The police officer doesnt understand that the truck I was driving can only go 45mph with the plow on it. I hope that all is well with you and mom says hello. Kory

Kory, that was Christmas Eve 2001, over 6 years ago, you brought a loaf of baked bread to the back door. Many other times? Not to me. I remember it well. I did not mention your name and I am not saying anything that isn’t true and you know that. I am far from the only one that has been almost ran over by one of those white trucks with your company name printed on the side. Why would I make that up? You and I both know it’s true. Your mom wouldn’t even talk to me when we were at Curves together because I no longer attend THAT church. Sad but true. When I’m hitting 55 in a 45 and one of ‘those’ trucks leaves me sitting still and waves in and out of traffic, who is driving? I was told you owned the company, if I am wrong in that then I am sorry. But the true stands as written, I will modify it somewhat, but only because you asked. I’m well aware, as is most of Morehead that having a certain ‘name’ gives you more pull in this town than others. Of course, I’m on the losing end of this debate and would be thrown under the jail by now.
