By dave • Sep 21st, 2007 • Category: ArticlesBlessing Hands:
This Morehead international charity was founded in the summer of 2005 when Betty Cutts visited the rural schools and realized the need for tuition help for the rural Chinese students. Blessing Hands presently gives educational aid to students in over 20 universities, 24 high Schools and vocational schools ($75 a semester for tuition), 10 lower middle schools ($25 a semester for textbooks and school supplies), and 33 primary schools ($10 a semester for textbooks and school supplies). Most of our work is in Yangshuo, China, which is Morehead’s Sister City, and Qinzhou, China.
Our web page is http://blessing-hands.org, and we have an up to date blog at http://blessinghands.blogspot.com. Go to this link to donate on line for the kids. Contact us at blessinghands@gmail.com.

Back Pack Ministries
Mission: to extend the compassion of Christ by building bridges between cultures and life experiences
Backpack ministry strives to serve as well as learn from the local Hispanic community by connecting families in Mexico and Central America divided because of economic need and hardship. Our ministry seeks to promote understanding within the local community by providing cultural exchanges and opportunities to work together.
The ministry grew out of the Hispanic ministry of the United Methodist Church in 2003. It began with visiting the sawmill dormitories and inviting them to come to church to learn English and form a community. Bible study soon followed. Hot meals were often prepared by Sunday school groups to bridge cultural and language gaps. A major focus has been advocacy, human dignity, and promotion of mental and spiritual health.
Our goal is to nurture and equip local Hispanic congregants to be leaders and continue the work and alliance once they return to their homeland.
We are located at 129 E. Main Street. Come in the rear entrance to the upstairs any time from 8 a.m. until 12 noon and 1-5 p.m. (606-783-1010 phone/fax)
