Charity Fair: Habitat for Humanity

Morehead Area Habitat for Humanity works to make the dream of home ownership possible for families. Habitat for Humanity is not a handout, but a partnership program. We believe in empowering people by working with them to achieve their goals, not doing it for them.

Homes are sold to low-income families without a profit, and with a no interest basis. Families must work at least 350 hours on their own homes or other partner families’ homes. Families make a mortgage payment that goes to create affordable housing for other families. Families also attend monthly nurturing meetings that teach budgeting, homeownership, and life learning skills. Habitat families pay property taxes and contribute to the well being of their communities.

Morehead Area HFH reduces costs by using volunteer labor and donated materials. Morehead Area Habitat for Humanity depends on the support of local donors, churches, and organizations.

Charity Parade and Fair Announcement
Habitat is asking the Charity Parade participants to come by the First Baptist Church, 123 E. Main Street and pick up a brochure about our work. We have a donation box there too, if you would like to be a part of our mission. The church is open from 9 am to 3 pm Monday-Thursday. The information will be in the lobby at the entrance on the East side of the building. Just sign our participation register and pick up your receipt to show you have been there.
