Charity Fair: Peoples Clinic

The HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa broke his heart and stimulated him to found People to People to serve those affected. People to People has recently built an orphanage in Ethiopia for children affected by this health crisis. Go to http://www.peoplepeople.org to learn about how People to People fights HIV/AIDS, provides for orphans, provides health education, gives scholarships, and uses telemedicine to help the poor.
People to People soon recognized the need for better medical care for the people who lived within Rowan County and sought the help of volunteers, charitable organizations and citizens to combine resources and skills to create the People’s Clinic. In August of 2005, the People’s Clinic opened its doors making the dream a reality. Today, 8 out of 10 of our patients are from working families. By providing services and helping the uninsured, we are lowering the costs of everyone’s medical care.
Anyone who has an income at 200% of the poverty level, and is 18-62 years old qualifies for treatment at the clinic. Volunteers work with patients to determine if they qualify. Services are provided from 10 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday of each week.

Come by the clinic at 751 West First Street to read a copy of our mission statement and get more information about People’s Clinic. We are only open one day (Tuesday) a week so you only get two chances (September 18th and 25th) during the Charity Parade. Come between the hours of 12:00 noon and 6:30 p.m.
Be sure to sign your name or the name of your team on the participation sheet at the clinic. Use the same name for your team for each charity’s participation sheet.
