Rowanreview.com Charity Parade and Fair
By dave • Aug 17th, 2007 • Category: EventsRowanreview.com is encouraging people to give items to 10 local charities over a 14 day period. Starting on the 12th of September, contestants can go online to see announcements by charities each night at 8 p.m. on Rowanreview.com. People will be asked to “parade” to the featured charity locations and donate small items like shampoo, detergent, or towels. The charities get a lot of items and publicity, and the contestants get prizes and free food at the Charity Fair held at the end of the 14 days. The contestants sign a sheet at each charity to show their participation and provide names for the drawing.
Three prizes of $500, $300, $200 will be drawn at the Charity Fair from the names of the participants. Winners will give half of their prizes to the charity or civic organization of their choice. Door prizes, free food, and live music will be at the fair. Charities will have tables to display their missions and answer questions.

YIKES! I am suppose to be in Chicago visiting friends and hubby dearest during the time you are having the “party”. SHOOT! Ok, maybe I can change the schedule since I slept through last years and got there just as they were cleaning up! Is it going to be at the Methodist Church like last year? Time? Inquiring minds need to know. I’d really like to make it this year. Thanks for a head’s up on the events. :-??

What is the list of charities so far?
50% of the “prizes” must be donated to the charity of the winners choice is that before or after taxes?
(Remember the Joe Louis lesson, he gave away all his prize money and died owing the Infernal re-venue on that idea)
(or more receintly the record baseball caught by a fan that was gonna have to cough up 10s of thousands in taxes or sell the thing to pay for the capitol gains/income for taking possesion of the thing as it went from $2bucks to $70,000 in value when it crossed the stadium wall and he caught it.(unless the guy gets caught using steroids again and it goes down in value and he can prove it to the IRS then he might claim a loss after paying the lawyers of course)
I dont know if I can afford to win any prizes after I borrow the “money” to give to a lieyer and a accountant to annalyse the situation to see how much I should have to “pay” on the net or gross of the donated part of the %50percent of the prize?
How much did the attornies fees cost to work out the legalities of this here parade of charities?
Is this site a 501c3?
Are all of the charities 501c3; Does the charity the winners choose have to be a 501c3 or can for instance I donate to any charity that is non-proffet including myself?
What are the webpages of the charities involved?
It all sounds like a nice promotion for at least this site?
Does every one have to log on to participate or can they just go to the various charities on certain days to sign up?
This does not constitute a sweepstakes; no purchase necessisary, void where inhibited by lawyers, see dealer for details, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, does not include tax, title liesense or destination fees et cetera ad nausium. Please sign immediately without reading.
Ahhhhh-men.

LOL…amusing post. Thanks.
The Charity Parade is just our little attempt to help people become aware of the charities in our community.
We’d like for people to know that there are ways they can help others in more ways than we might think.
Please come…spread the word…invite your friends and neighbors.
Last year we had a pretty good time. We had some good music, good food and we all met some nice people.

Kat,
Yep, at the Methodist Church same as last year. I’d sure like to see you come if you could.
Betty Cutts and the rest of the people worked hard to make it an enjoyable event.
I’d LOVE to see the place PACKED this year.

just “out of the loop” on that part I guess?
August 29th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
Don’t feel too “out of the loop”, I don’t know any more than you do about it.
I don’t have a lot to give as far as time, money, or consumables, but would like to give a little something to help out. Even if it amounts to posting fliers on bulletin boards while doing my daily errands.
