The Rules of Engagement

All communications made available as part of this forum and any opinions, advice, statements, views or other information expressed in this forum are solely provided by, and the responsibility of, the person posting such communication and not of The Rowan Review.

**A few additional notes**
This place can get pretty heated at times, especially during election years or during particularly bumpy political situations. While there really is no problem with naming elected officials and voicing your complaints, be sure that you never accuse them of anything that you cannot or would not be willing to back up with proof. Otherwise, then it could be considered defamation and you may be committing libel. We don’t want that. Any comments that are determined to be borderline will most likely be edited or deleted. You may be contacted privately via email (if you have provided one) in order to give you a chance to make the appropriate edits on your own, but this will be a judgement call by the administrators of the site.
Additionally, you absolutely may NOT use this site in order to defame any public or private citizen. Basically, don’t come on here and tell everybody that Joe Bob, Jr. lives beside you and has been stealing peoples’ cows and chicken eggs, or Susie Q is letting her pit bull make a mess in your lawn and you are fed up with it. There are appropriate places to settle such disputes and allegations, and this is definitely not it.
However, that does not mean that you cannot complain about how mad you get when dogs crap in your yard, or people steal cows or chicken eggs, or lay black marks down the highway in front of your house. You simply cannot name people’s names and use this forum as a place to try and settle those issues.
Again, just use a little common sense, and everything should work out just fine.

I had heard about this “scanner scoup” a while back..and thought to myself…’what a poor little lady, she has nothing else better to do..’ the reason that I had heard something, was because I had something written about a family memeber…so..I just brushed it off as nothing…then when I heard something again..I thought I would look at this silly website. It’s really pointless…seriouslly…get a life..!!!!But..if you have a reason that you just love to do this…please,..let me know..becusue I would love to hear your lame excuse..!!Thanks..and have a great day…oh..I look forward to reading about this..!!

Oh dearest Kristin,
I see you about once a month or so and you don’t even put two and two together. You’re very nice to me when I see you. You must be a really be a newbie to this site and must really not realize who I am unless you see me in person. Here’s some answers for you: Get a job–Worked as a nurse, Lab Tech, Phlebotomy/EKG Instructor etc., for many years until getting hit by a semi-truck and having 27 surgeries. I have 2 internet businesses that keep me fairly business. Next Question: spend time with your kids—I had to have a hysterectomy at 29 and even if I didn’t need one, I am not a breeder, there’s too many kids in this world today with no one to love and care for them without adding to it. #3, I have NEVER written anything about YOUR family. NEVER! Please go back as far as you would like in the Scanner Scoop link and check. I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs, I go to church 3 times a week, never been pulled over by a cop and never even gotten a parking ticket and don’t bother anyone. That’s not a ‘I’m holier than thou’ statement, just a statement that I don’t do anything to get my name in the paper or on the scanner. Maybe one of these days, I’ll take a walk on the wild side and make up for being all goody two-shoes, but I doubt it. Lame excuse? I don’t think it’s lame. Many people have emailed and even said on this site that they enjoyed my scanner scoop. I used to work in the medical field and greatly miss the ‘trauma high’, you would get helping people in an emergency, etc. and could literally live in the ER. Not because I like seeing people hurting, etc., because I USED to be able to help and I loved it and as I just said, miss it so much. This is as close as I can come now with my disabilities. Next time I’m in the bank, I’ll come to your window and introduce myself–again. I have nothing against the family you married into. It’s not my fault that the cop told the one cop to watch for a truck last night. I have no idea why they said it was coming through that area, could have and probably was a totally innocent comment and I implied nothing one way or the other. The gang is taking this way too personal. I haven’t had BP station, RoadRunners, etc., say anything. Take a trip down stairs and ask Angela, my Pastors daughter if I’m the orge you think I am. You don’t have a clue what I’m about and it’s ok. We all have our places to fill in God’s eternal plan. Mine I guess is ruffling feathers even when I don’t mean to. Again, show me ONE place where I said ANYTHING AT ALL about Y’all? If you have nothing to hide you shouldn’t be raising such a stink over nothing.

I just found out that my mother left a $1,000 life insurance policy on her in my name. When she died in Dec 1st, her hubby started asking me about where it was. It was through the VFW and I don’t have a clue. Is there anyway to find out so I can donate it to Mother’s Against Drunk Drivers and STAR?

I know they hired a lot of people at Wal-Mart and I had to go out past there this morning and it looked like every parking space was filled? Does anyone know what other stores are going to be inside? I know there is going to be a SubWay, but isn’t there an eye glass place, beauty shop, etc.?

I can’t speak for TV10, but I’d imagine that’s still part of the show. I’ve had my antenna down for about a week now measuring the spacing of the arrays and such, so I haven’t been able to watch lately.
Can’t wait until the weather breaks.

Well..where do I start…a person can’t help to ponder across a website that just loves to criticize a family member..and yes…Ms. gossip queen has “gossiped” about family member/members..actually on both sides of my family..whether she knows it or not..a gossip column.. (this is what this website pretty much sums up to)
Also…if you think this is the only way to “free news”…have you heard of News Channel 27,& 36…just to name a few…
She really only will get half the story of whats going on..just because she listens to the scanner 24/7..doesn’t mean she has the “whole scoop”.
And adding to the comment earlier from the gossip queen…Im not going to research where you HAVE mentioned a family member..I have had many people tell me all about it..AND…I know exactly who writes all this nonsense..but..I don’t think she has any idea who I am..because stated earlier that she sees me once a month,… she does not see me once a month..actually she hasn’t seem me in about 2 years..and..Angela (who she mentioned earlier) has not worked there for about 2 years..so..darn..I can’t go ask her what a saint she is..
So..in conclusion..that’s about all I have to say..I’m tired..this is pointless..and yes..I will probably get back on to see any reply’s…so I can brighten my day with a good laugh…

I haven’t criticized you, and I’m just as much a part of this site as any other member.
Now, Kat might not have the whole scoop on everything, but neither does the commercial news. Nobody does really.
If you’ll notice the front page of the paper, they only tell one side of the story when someone is indicted on criminal charges. Even though they may do a follow up story if a person is convicted of a criminal charge.
I can remember back when The Morehead News used to list “Hospital Admissions and Releases”, can’t you? Was that the whole scoop? no, it was only a listing of events, quite similar to the Scanner Scoop.
Now as for myself, go ahead and call me Mr. Gossip if you’d like, because I post things that everyone is talking about… sometimes taking a story to extremes in order to get the parties involved to come forward with a response, or perhaps to correct a wrong sometimes.
Gotta go for now.
Have to earn some paper pennies tomorrow.
(Can’t call them dollars now a days)

Wrong Angela, Kristin. Try Anderson for a last name and I’m not a saint. Church is for sinners and according to my Bible, KJV, ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. I don’t attend a church where everyones thinks they are better than anyone else.
Do you read the newspaper? Listen to the news on TV? Plain old gossip? That which is put across the scanner is not gossip.
I last saw you about 5 months ago. Look Kristin, I am still dealing with my mother being found dead, having to go back to the Cancer Specialist for more testing, my grandmother seriously ill at 86, my own out of control diabetes, etc., so I believe I have more to do in this world than to worry about your family. There is no need to speak of your family as everyone is well aware of them without me saying a word. You need no introduction. It’s 1:53a.m. and you are probably fast asleep and I’m up praying for someone that needs the Lord help right now and no, it’s not you. Please take a chill pill, you know not of what you speak.

Actually the mint looses money on every circulating coin they produce. The only exception is collector silver eagles and such. They made a small profit on the penny until the price of zinc went up.
Wouldn’t that be the perfect excuse to raise sales tax to 10%?
They lose less money on the penny then any other coin they produce, but want to do away with it?

Does EVERYONE have to workout their patience to deal with the average folks aroun’chere? By average I could say “riff raff” that is those that don’t appreciate anything, want something free and complain about it when they get it? Watch the movie “The Postman” with Kosner for a realistic depiction of what things could look like in a “sustainable” post globalist ‘merika.
There is some kinda attitude that permeates certain demographics around here (and the country for that matter) that just does not understand the concept of “don’t look a gift horse in the mouth” and would just assume shoot it to put it outta their misery? (not in refer-ence directly to the issues above)
HOWEVER
The Scanner scoop is prone to use derogatory names and remarks towards folks nabbed by police for things that are prone to happen where drinking is “legal” combined with spoilt american attitudes on what the world owes them and such. Pay IS too low and jobs too few fer shure but don’t take it out on those that don’t deserve it. Don’t shoot the messenger or the profit either for that matter….
